Cornish Kobe!
World renowned Kobe beef originally comes from a technique used in Kobe, Japan. Darren and Kate Pluess are delighted to be the very first farmers in Cornwall to use these methods to produce this prized delicacy in Cornwall.
Holy Cow!
Cows were traditionally sacred in Japan and held in the highest esteem, including them not being killed for eating. When the laws were eventually relaxed the deep rooted respect for the cow remained and although the eating of them was then legal the local’s treatment of them stayed at the highest quality.
Happy Cow!
The cows were kept relaxed and happy by being fed beer and having massages. The result of this royal treatment is a quality of beef and a taste like no other. Due to the cows being so very relaxed a rich, succulent and tender beef is created. Beautifully marbled and high in Omega 3’s due to the beer and low in tough muscle due to the “relaxed” life-style of the cows. This tender and succulent beef is reported to be lower in saturated fat.
Local Cow!
Cornish Kobe comes from Limousin Crosses, who are hand-reared as calves and fed on special grain, top quality hay and spring water fresh from Woodland farm. The bullocks all have glossy coats, bright eyes and a thirst like no other! They love the beer and go mad for a little bit of human contact!
Our cows are fed on Cornish Beer, raised on a Cornish Farm and prepared by a Cornish Butcher. You don’t get much more “Made in Cornwall” than that!
